Jackie Kennedy championed an array of fashion firsts – the A line skirt, the pill box hat, and, finally, the bouffant hairdo.

The hair style dated from the late 1950’s when Life magazine presented it as part of the aristocratic European look. Women in the ‘60’s were quick to pick up the style. Unfortunately, it was both difficult to create and to maintain, requiring a lot of time and a lot of tools. When “Camelot” ended in the US after the assassination of President Kennedy, the style quickly began to fade. No longer having Jackie as prevalent in the press allowed women to move on to more realistic and easier hair styles.
