MEMORIES:
There were certain brands that were rites of passage for adolescent girls – Tinkerbell, LipSmackers, Love’s Baby Soft, Jean Nate – and Buf-Puf. The peach-colored puff, swirled gently around your face, made you feel clean, glowing, and oh, so adult.
Buf-Puf was a round mass of scratchy fibers, and it’s exfoliating action sloughed off dead skin cells to leave your complexion glowing. The cosmetics craze didn’t hit the market until the ‘90’s, so before then women had fewer options. Buf-Puf was simple – lather up, gently exfoliate, and have fresh, clean skin.
Buf-Puf was a pleasant sensory experience as much as anything else. It made you feel like you had to work at your beauty – just like Mom. And once you got the Buf-Puf action going, there was no telling what exciting beauty rituals were right around the corner.
