CATCH PHRASE:
"Gee, your hair smells terrific"
Here’s one product name that didn’t beat around the bush. What would this shampoo do for you? Why, it would make people tell you, “Gee, your hair smells terrific!”
And smell terrific it did, with a spicy, floral scent that was flirty and attractive. And what woman wouldn’t want the people around her – not to mention legions of attractive men – to tell her that her hair smelled great? Wasn’t that what shampoo was for?
The message was simply put on the packaging as well – a bright, purple bottle with the name in all capital, rainbow letters. It was bold and bright. You couldn’t miss it in the store, and people wouldn’t miss the pretty scent of your hair.
The product-name-as-advertising theme would be repeated again, in a different industry, with “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter.”
