A popular dress style at in the 60's was the cotton pin tuck dress; inset with lace, a hybrid of the Mexican wedding dress and the Gunne Sax style popularized by Jessica McClintock of San Francisco. It usually had a metal zipper and bell sleeves, with a full skirt, similar to the broomstick skirt style of the 90's. Some say McClintock was mostly responsible for the granny dress street style favored by Haight Ashbury denizens. Granny boots, granny glasses and a long velvet dress, the look was distinctly hip. She further capitalized on the peasant/prairie look with her Gunne Sax label, which still remains a fashion favorite amongst vintage clothing collectors today.
