You can never have too many pockets. And yet, for years, the shoes were completely neglected in regard to prime pouch real estate. But taking a hint from the world of marsupials, all would change with the launching of KangaROOS, the world’s first and foremost pocketed shoe.

With a handy storage space that initially appealed to runners, KangaROOS soon found enormous popularity with kids. Designed with Velcro enclosures and produced in a rainbow of crayon colors, they were the footwear that was fun to wear. Not only did them have a secret compartment for storing all those childhood valuables, but they had a zipper that served as a toy - perfect for endless fidgeting and many a zipper song. These shoes were so popular, in fact, that they gave well-established companies like Nike and Reebok a serious run for their money.

The animal kingdom has no doubt contributed enormously to the world of fashion.  And the marsupials, with their penchant for pouches, didn’t disappoint - by inspiring these popular pocketed shoes that left folks wondering how they ever could have done without such a thing.
