The super-sizing trend, contrary to popular belief, didn’t start in the 90s with McDonald’s. The 80s had a little super-sizing magic of its own to foist upon the world, especially when it came to sweaters, huge sweaters with shoulder pads that would make a quarterback envious.

But that wasn’t all that humongous about these stretched out version of classic sweater design. The sleeves were so long, your hands virtually disappeared in a sea of fabric and had to dig their way to freedom. Hems fell to the knees. If you didn’t know, you might think you were in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, or if nothing else a toddler trapped in the stylings of mom’s wardrobe closet.
