MEMORY:

Ok as a LITTLE, brief, mixed up overview, but since you couldn't tell the story, and you couldn't call anything accurately, you probably should'nt have said anything. In some instances you attribute the wrong things to the wrong people or time. 1. USA had the 1st punks. 2. the Sex Pistols wanted to be the Ramones. 3. You were really naive and didn't understand what was going on; 4. You were, obviously, too young and only understood things 20 years after the fact. Any "punk" in the 80s or 90s, and even now, those who "think" they are "punks," waaaayyyyy missed the boat. You apparently don't know the diff btwn Brit punk and Amer punk, and you were not clued in to know where, what, and why punk changed things, or how. I can tell you were not part of it; I can tell you weren't, because I was. And you were NOT cooler than thou; you were one of a million who THOUGHT you knew. You were outsiders and NEVER a "punk." You name drop the Buzzcocks and the Damned in your sentence on "post punk"--but they were total and early punks....There were no real punks anymore after about '81 or '82. Things became "new wave" immediately following. The early 1980s '82, '83, were when all the "ordinary" people jumped on the bandwagon, showed up at our clubs dressed and acting like the hicks, hilbillies, frat morons and yuppies they were. So, we left. And bands like Blondie got into freaking pop music.... The music in the earlier 1980s was NEW WAVE. NOT "post-punk."

I was there. Since New Year's Eve 1975. And you were not. And I KNEW these people. ANd you did not. And I was a punk...and... you...were...not.

Decent attempt, though; you're the first and only one who bothered to comment. That should score points.
