CATCH PHRASE:
Red Ball Jets. They make you run faster and jump higher
In the days before sneaker hysteria, there were still some shoe companies who knew how to make a good pair of sports shoes. Red Ball Jets were such sneakers. Kids loved to slip their feet between the canvas tops and rubber soles
Manufactured from 1951 – 1971 by Red Ball Inc., Red Ball Jets had a fanatical following. They competed with Converse All-Stars, Sears’ Jeepers, and Keds’ ProKeds, but these were the sneakers that kids wanted to wear in the fun-filled days of adolescence.
Uniroyal, the American rubber company, bought the rights to Red Ball in 1971, and production was cancelled. Uniroyal still made the rubberized soles for Keds, but Red Ball Jets were relegated to that big basketball game in the sky.
