MEMORY:Had a few of these in the early to mid-70s, one yellow with narrow vertical ribs and rainbow serge-stitching along the edges, another in denim blue with a tie-dye effect. Even back then as a child, people never failed to let me know I was too skinny to look good in them, so I haven't worn them since. I still associate them with 70s faded denim flared jeans and cutoffs with sandals and Pumas. I liked the oversized, deep-cut muscle tanks and string tanks of the 80s and I remember them being in bright colors, but I thought only athletes looked okay in them. I could never have worn them. I notice they call white, ribknit, tank undershirts now "wife beaters". That's pleasant. They didn't need to change the name.RELATED ITEMS: |
