MEMORY:Back when I was little tattoos were for bikers, sailors and ex-cons, period. "Bad Guys" had tattoos. (Oh, and my crusty old neighbour who had served in WWII). Now everybody and their dog has body art of some form or another. I think it all really broke into the mainstream with the Red Hot Chili Peppers huge popularity and exposure in '93-'94. Suddenly everyone had to get a "tribal" tattoo, and it spread from there. Of course, with the growing acceptance of tattoos came the glut of similarity in style and placement. Me? The only "tattoos" I can boast are three black dots on my right forearm where Dan Curtis stabbed me with a caligraphy pen in art class in Grade 9... jerk.RELATED ITEMS: |
