The 70s saw the long flowing female locks of hair gradually shorten. First the world was introduced to the feathered wings of Farrah Fawcett to diminish the blow somewhat, then Olympic figure-skater, Dorothy Hamill appeared on the scene and dropped jaws, with a style shorter than anyone had ever seen on a woman. And with this style gaining rapidly in popularity, Clairol hair products slyly saw an opportunity to introduce a shampoo specially formulated for short hair. The result was Short and Sassy.

In this particular case, Sassy translated into follicles full of bounce and body, that would fall right back into shape, no matter how strenuous the activity or how windy the day. That was good news for disco fans who needed to look their best, not only on the dance floor, but after the music had ended. Short and Sassy delivered on their promise, proving that one didn’t have to have a long mane of hair to look both sassy and sexy.
