Hungry? Snickers Satisfies.
In the grand and glorious world of candy bars, where fame is anything but fleeting, no candy bar has enjoyed more popularity than Snickers. Among the candy bar Olympians, it is Zeus. It's the culmination of every other great candy bar. A thick bar of hearty peanut butter nougat (3 Musketeers), topped with roasted peanuts and a layer of rich caramel (Mars Bar) and covered in silky milk chocolate.
It's the best-selling candy bar in the history of candy bars. Every single year, Snickers bars bring the Mars Corporation more than $2 billion. At fifty cents a bar, that's four billion Snickers bars. That's some demand, people.
Named after the family horse, the Mars family introduced Snickers in 1930. By 1949, Snickers had become the official sponsor of the Howdy Doody Show. The bite-sized Snickers bar came about in 1968 and has been a Halloween candy staple ever since. Several different different versions and variations of Snickers now exist, including Snickers ice cream, Snickers pie (labelled by the UK Food Commission as one of the unhealthiest desserts ever), and Snickers Salad (made with green apples and whipped cream). They're made with peanut butter, almonds, hazelnuts, and any number of imaginative confections.
Whatever the makeup, whatever the myriad ingredients, one thing always stays the same:
It's 280 calories of taste bliss.
