“There’s always room for Jell-o!”

None of us were around when Jell-O was invented 150 years ago.  Heck, most of us weren’t around when Jell-O was first manufactured (yes, from horse hooves) and sold for the masses.  But all of us at some point – for better or for worse – remember the jiggly stuff. Whether you had a bowl of it, a slice from a jello mold, a “jiggler,” or a scoop from a salad, mixed with fruit or whipped cream or both.  Maybe you loved the pudding or the Jell-O pudding pops, and their creamy textures swirling in your mouth.  One thing’s for sure, the official snack food of Utah since 2001 (yes, that’s right – the treat is so popular in the region it is sometimes called the Jell-O belt!) has been pleasing palates for decades, and probably for decades to come!

The many Jell-o spokesmen over the years were as much a part of our lives as the food itself.  Andy Griffith and Gomer Pyle each did a stint pitching the product.  The 1970s commercial featured the 5th Dimension standing atop a giant strawberry Jell-O box. And who can forget Bill Cosby, his image synonymous with Jell-O for all children of the eighties. (How many commercials can one spokesman do for something so simple?)

Countless cameo appearances and mentions in television (like The Simpsons) and movies (like Ghostbusters) and its continual encores at family reunions and holidays remind us that there’s always room for J-E-L-L-O!
