Brought to us by the fine folks at Nabisco, Chicken in a Biskit might not possess the same amount of class as, say, caviar or truffles, but it sure does pack a flavorful punch in each and every bite. Chicken in a Biskit isn’t a far cry from the plethora of other snack crackers available, such as Cheez Its, vegetable crackers, and Ritz. They are everything you would expect from a typical cracker –with one exception. Chicken in a Biscuits are flavored with… you guessed it…chicken – and that makes them especially delightful.
First introduced in Australia, in 1968 by Nabisco, Chicken in a Biskit attempts to do what no other cracker has dared – bring the chicken noodle soup to the cracker. It is the sole survivor in a line of “in a biskit” products (Although, is it really any surprise that “Vegamite in a Biskit” didn’t catch on?). Each mouthful of crackers feels like a meal in itself – a virtual Sunday chicken dinner in every bite. And a few brave and resourceful souls have even taken to topping the already poultry-potent cracker with an extra helping of flavor. Favorites include ranch dressing, French onion dip, and time-tested crowd favorite - drum roll, please - Kraft Easy Cheese. Late night indulgers have been known to grab a can of the spray cheese and a box of crackers, turn on a old movie classic, and let loose with reckless cheese and chicken abandon, throwing caution to the wind in proud mockery of healthy eating habits.
These are the people that understand what it means to live life to its fullest. Sometimes things like calories and sodium content just get in the way of a good time. Sometimes, it’s just a darn good thing to indulge in a bit of lowbrow decadence. And for that, we’ll always have Chicken in a Biskit, flavorful friend and crunchy companion, eager to satisfy in ways that mere caviar could only dream of achieving.
