Release History:

1992 - D2: The Mighty Ducks
1996 - D3: The Mighty Ducks

The third Mighty Ducks chapter found the squad once again in the position of underducks – this time at a high-class prep school, where the Ducks would get the chance to show, once again, how perseverance and teamwork always come out on top. And not just on the ice, but also in the battle against the rich snobs of the world.

After their big victory at the Junior Goodwill Games, our scrappy heroes (and heroines) have won scholarships to Eden Hall, a fancy prep school. In addition to the new academic challenges, they have to make do without their longtime leader Gordon Bombay, who has passed the coaching baton to the hard-nosed Ted Orion. And that’s not the half of it.

You see, Eden Hall’s championship hockey tradition hasn’t made any allowances for players who aren’t white and male. Dean Buckley doesn’t think much of our multi-ethnic quackers, and neither do the Warriors, the academy’s varsity team. After working through the trials of high school romance, nasty pranks, and prejudice, the Ducks have to face the sturdy Warriors on the ice to defend their scholarships.

Emilio Estevez, who received top billing, appeared as Gordon only briefly; the Ducks themselves carried this picture. Disney was able to keep its successful tie-in with its real NHL team, the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, going strong. The Mighty Ducks screen franchise continued beyond the trilogy of films, with a series of animated television adventures that featured hockey-playing, alien ducks with super-powers instead of the human stars of the big screen.
