Release History:
1966 - Follow Me, Boys!
Disney's Follow Me, Boys! starred perennial favorite Fred MacMurray in a comic drama about a small-town Boy Scout troop, and the efforts to keep the boys on the straight and narrow. MacMurray played 1930’s musician Lem Siddons, who packs up his saxophone and moves to a small Midwestern town. His goal is to become a lawyer, but Vida Downey, a local bank teller, convinces him to start a Boy Scout troop and act as scoutmaster.
The town supports Lem and the troop, but evil banker Ralph Hastings tries to have the boys kicked out of their headquarters. Luckily, Hasting’s rich Aunt Hetty comes to the rescue, and along with his own dedication to the boys, Lem helps to turn things around.
The film also featured Vera Miles, silent film star Lillian Gish, and Kurt Russell as a troubled young scout. Old-fashioned and sentimental, the movie touched hearts and was another success for Disney.
