Her big brothers, The Osmonds, were on their way to becoming one of the biggest family acts in entertainment history. Meanwhile, little sister Marie decided to make country music her area of expertise, and soon became a teen country star.

Marie first appeared on television with her brothers on the The Andy Williams Show when she was only three years old. At 14, she took her mother’s advice and recorded a country music album, getting her first hit in 1973 with "Paper Roses," a remake of the 1960s classic. It also charted on the pop charts, going to #5.

When Marie sang harmony along with brother Donny on his 1974 single, "I'm Leaving It All Up To You," the duet went to #4. It was the first of several brother/sister duets, while Marie continued to record country hits, and Donny had both his solo career and his appearances with The Osmonds. In 1975, Marie released both "My Little Corner Of The World" and a remake of "Who's Sorry Now." She and Donny also appeared on TV variety shows to promote their duets.

When ABC executive Fred Silverman saw the two of them on TV, he was impressed by their on-screen chemistry. He developed The Donny and Marie Show, a hit variety show that ran for four years. The two also starred in the feature film Goin' Coconuts, and Marie appeared in The Gift of Love in 1979. During all this time, she also continued to record both solo and with Donny.

After The Donny and Marie Show ended in 1980, Marie went on to host her own show, Marie, which lasted another year. Then she went back to music, with the hit "Back To Believing Again." She and Dukes Of Hazzard star John Schneider co-founded the Children’s Miracle Network, a charity organization that holds a national telethon from Disneyland every year that Marie hosts.

Marie had more hits in 1985 with the two #1 songs "There's No Stopping Your Heart" and "Meet Me In Montana," a duet with Dan Seals. A year later saw the release of "You're Still New To Me," a duet with Paul Davis, which went to #1 on the country charts. In 1988 she released another duet with David called "Sweet Life.”

Marie appeared on stage in the 90s as both Maria in The Sound Of Music and Anna in The King and I. She also developed and designed a successful line of porcelain dolls. Later in the 90s, she and Donny reunited for the new iteration of The Donny and Marie Show, now as a syndicated talk show. Her long and varied career has taken Marie Osmond from child star to successful all-around entertainer.
