Davy Crockett coonskin caps were as big a fad as the hula hoop in the 1950's. No period-piece film set in the 1950's is complete without a child wearing one. The frontier spirit of Crockett was a perfect fit with America's post-war enthusiasm, and children were gobbling up any merchandise they could get. In 1955 Holtemp responded to demand with the production of this Davy Crockett metal lunchbox with matching steel thermos. Davy is, in familiar fashion, depicted fighting bears and Native Americans.
