MEMORY:I was on the school newspaper twice in my life. The first was in 10th grade. The "editor" was our English/Math teacher. That year I offered to get an interview with the New Orleans mayor, who I knew many years before as a child. But even in 10th grade, I was too naive to figure out how to go about getting in contact with him, since his home phone number was not in the book. So I failed miserably there. The second time was my first year of college in the late 70's My biggest chance was when I got to interview a man visiting the campus to promote a book he wrote about his experiences in WWII. He turned out to be someone who expected you to have read the book cover to cover before you ask him any questions. Nearly half of my questions got responses like "Didn't you read my book?" or "It's in my book". So that didn't go well either. But I pulled enough of an article for it to get printed with a photo the paper's photographer took.Gold Stars: 1 GOLD STARS:RELATED ITEMS: |
