PHOTO:![]() My book fair nostalgia kicked in a few years ago and i found/purchased a few Book Fairsi loved these things ... i also remember the "bookmobile" (a large custom bus that came to our school every-so-often to sell books)even as far back as 1st grade ... getting "the five chinese brothers" and "the fat cat" . "dynamite" magazines were always available at the book fair ... we all loved that magazine (i wish i'd saved one or two of them). in 3rd - 5th grade, our teachers would read us stories from book fair books ... we always ended wanting to buy them for ourselves. i distinctly remember "james and the giant peach" (we were all drooling and craving juicy peaches every time she read those pages to us) in 3rd grade. in 4th and 5th grade, the teachers were reading ghost stories and passages from "strange but true" and similar books with short stories about ghosts and other freaky things. i readily recall purchasing those books as well ... one "scary" story in a book purchased at the book fair was about an old lady living by herself out in the country hearing a strange whistle sound ... her dog goes beserk, she lets it out and falls asleep in total fear ... next morning, she hears that the whistle has stopped and finds her dog was killed on the front porch (i actually found this story on the internet) my nostalgic obsession led me to search for some of these books a couple of years ago ... and luckily, i found a few of them on amazon.com and bought them.
