Sports and board games don’t always mix. Sports are active, board games are…well…you’re sitting down at a table. Sometimes though, a game is developed that combines the two pretty well.
Rebound cleverly mixed a sports game with a board game. It was basically a board game version of shuffleboard. Since it was small though, Rebound threw in a twist – the board was split down the middle by a wall. Each player launched one of four pucks up the right side, trying to angle it so it would rebound off a pair of rubber band stretch on the top of the board. The goal was the get the puck to bounce back down the other side of the board.
The puck eventually stopped on one of a series of score markers on the other side. When the next player launched his puck though, they might end up on a better scoring point space. Or, their shot might push you off your point space and make you lose those points. Whoever scored 300 points first was the winner.
The thrill of sports competition on an easy-to-carry board made Rebound a big hit, and it’s still being manufactured today. And how many sports can you play while still sitting on the couch?
