MEMORY:My brother and I inherited our first GI JOE (the original plastic blonde hair version) in the mid-70's, and just went nuts--homemade parachutes of the roof, buried alive, you name it! Later we got the desert adventure set, though I desperately wanted the Mercury spacecraft, which was about ten years before my time.Later on we got the cheaper hollow body Gi joes, with "real" hair--mine went bald, unfortunately (we explained that he had survived radiation from a Russian spy, so it was all good)... One of my favorite memories of childhood was a spoiled brat neighbor who got the talking GI Joe with Kung-fu grip, then prompty held him under water, which destroyed the voice mechanism. Idiot.
