The Bubble Blower

Manufacturer:

Wham-O
Why would you want to blow just blow one bubble when you could blow ZILLIONS of bubbles with a single sweep of your arm?

The answer is, simply, you wouldn’t. While bubble-blowing in general might not inspire much excitement, the idea of zillions of bubbles was intriguing. Wham-O capitalized on the power of the word “zillions” with this variation of the typical plastic bubble wand. The Zillion Bubble Blower featured a waffle iron-like paddle wand which was dipped in a whole tray of soapy solution. Wave that baby around and all those little holes produced – you guessed it – a zillion bubbles! (Quantities may vary.)

The effect was stunning on young bubble-lovers everywhere. No longer just entranced by one bubble at a time, now you could chase, poke, pop, and admire a cornucopia of bubbles simultaneously. It was almost bubble-overload.

The Zillion Bubble Blower wasn’t particularly unique. Both before and since it hit the market, many other manufacturers have produced similar bubble-making toys. Even Wham-O had several, including Monster Bubbles and the Bubble Thing. But maybe it was the inclusion of the word “zillions” – and the promise that that number held – that made the Zillion Bubble Blower so special to young bubble fans.
