Thanks to that ever-conniving and bumbling Alexandra, the popular girl group and their entourage found themselves in outer space and had to solve their biggest mystery yet, how to return home. And along the way, there was plenty of adventure to be found in the depths of the galaxy. Typically, the gang (along with Melody’s new alien pet, Bleep) would cross paths with some aliens, who would eventually kidnap them (or catnap, if you prefer.) Inevitably, the feline-esque females would find, not only a way to escape, but also a way to help the aliens solve whatever crisis had caused their cranky disposition in the first place. After everyone calmed down, and a few songs were performed (of course,) the aliens would be nice enough to help Josie and her pals find a course back to Earth. Unfortunately, it was usually only a matter of moments before Alexandra screwed the plan up and they were back where they started.
Only sixteen episodes were produced of Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space. The series would be re-run the following year, before the feline performers decided to head back to terra firma. Other than a cameo appearance in The New Scooby Doo Movies in 1972, fans would have to live with reruns of the original show and the spin-off to get their Josie Fix. That is, at least, until the group made their way to the big screen in the live-action feature film, Josie and the Pussycats, released in 2001.
