Junior was the spitting image of dear old dad and looks weren't the only thing the tyke inherited from Popeye. The son had the same freakish strength as the father, triggered by spinach. Together, the duo could wallop some serious behind but violence wasn't desirable in cartoons any more. Even though Popeye's rival, Bluto, was still an arrogant bully and now had a son of his own, big brawls weren't on the menu for Popeye and Son. Junior and Tank, Bluto's son, continued their fathers' rivalry but Popeye usually intervened and taught his son the valuable lesson of solving problems with brains, not brawn. Boo, hiss.
