Trivia:

Shari Lewis studied piano and violin at the New York High School for Music and Art, studied dance at the American School of Ballet, conducted numerous orchestras and was proficient at juggling and acrobatics. She also wrote over 60 books in her lifetime.
Shari Lewis became an enduring and much loved television icon by bringing simple, joyous puppet fun to young audiences around the country. One of the few female puppeteers and ventriloquists with her own show, Shari was more than a pretty face: she was a very talented and sweet lady who breathed life into the characters of Charlie Horse, Hush Puppy and, of course, Lamb Chop.

The Shari Lewis Show debuted in 1960 on NBC with Shari and her puppet friends educating and entertaining their young fans with songs, jokes and little skits. Shari's perky, sunny manner put everyone at ease and help teach kids valuable lessons. Other than Lamb Chop and the puppets, a next door neighbor, Mr. Goodfellow, made frequent visits to Shari's set.

The series aired until 1963 and earned several Emmys and a Peabody award. The appeal of Shari and Lamb Chop proved multi-generational and The Shari Lewis Show was revived on PBS in the early 70s. In the 90s, Lamb Chop's Play-Along aired also on PBS for a whopping 200 episodes.
