Release History:

4/13/63 - 9/28/63 ABC
For a brief moment in time, five and a half months to be more precise, there was a show called Cartoonies.  Paul Winchell brought along his ‘dummy’ pals, Jerry Mahoney and Knucklehead Smiff, to help host this Saturday morning cartoon show on ABC, which was originally called Cartoonsville

Each episode came packed with cartoons like Modern Madcaps, Screen Songs and Noveltunes, the latter of which featured Casper the Friendly Ghost, Herman the Mouse, Blackie the Lamb, Baby Huey the Duck, and Little Audrey.  Between episodes, Winchell and company would entertain television audiences with skits, informational segments, and the ever-popular viewer ‘mailbag.’

Though the show was popular, it was increasingly obvious that Casper might have been the most popular thing on there.  The show was eventually replaced by one of its bit players for the show The New Casper Cartoon Show.  Casper took over the hosting reins, emceeing the Modern Madcaps re-runs while breaking it up with his own cartoon bits and pieces.  Though some would miss him on Cartoonies, Mr. Winchell continued on doing a great many other things, including some of the most famous voice over work the world has ever seen, on series such as The Smurfs, and of course for the role he was perhaps most famous for, ‘Tigger.’  The list of his accomplishments could go on, and on, and on…
