The Gummi Bears was Disney’s first attempt at a Saturday morning cartoon. The 30-minute series focused on the adventures of bears not based on either a comic strip character or a toy line, but on a candy. Who knew the fruity, chewy, gelatin-based snacks had such personality?
In the series, Princess Calla and her page boy Cavin live in the Kingdom of Dunwyn, and are protected by six Gummi Bears. Grammi Gummi makes the Gummiberry Juice that gives the bears their power – the talent to bounce around like the gummi candy they are. The Juice helps them fight the various bad guys that appear in each episode. Just don’t put them on the radiator and watch them melt.
