Following the adventures of the Flinstones cast when they were little kids, The Flintstone Kids featured "Freddy," Barney, Wilma, and Betty as their 10-year-old selves, including puppy Dino. Fred’s future boss Nate Slate was also a little kid version of himself and there were some new characters too – Freddy’s parents, Ed and Edna Flintstone, Barney’s dad Robert Rubble, Rocky Ratrock the bully, prima donna Dreamchip Gemstone, and Philo Quartz the junior detective.

Each episode contained a Dino's Dilemma segment which centered on the Dino’s puppy adventures. Another part was The Flintstone Funnies where the kids had fantasy adventures. The third segment was Captain Caveman and Son, the favorite cartoon of our prehistoric friends. Captain Caveman and Cavey Jr. were a couple of superheroes that both saved the world and spoke directly to the Flintstone kids.

The animated series ran for two seasons on ABC on Saturday mornings. Shortly before the show was cancelled, Nancy Reagan made a live-action appearance on an evening broadcast of The Flintstone Kids "Just Say No" Special, in her anti-drug campaign. After a brief return to Saturday morning in 1990, the show became part of syndicated package The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera.
