Release History:

9/9/72 - 9/22/74 CBS
Produced by Hanna Barbera, The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan was an animated version of the famous Chinese detective, Charlie Chan. In this iteration, he was assisted in solving crimes by his ten children and his dog Chu Chu. His sons, Henry and Stanley, led the investigations, each happening in different American locations.

The Chan Clan traveled in a van which could change into different types of vehicles, depending on what they needed for each investigation. They would usually get themselves into a jam, and Charlie would get them out of the trouble and clear up everything in the end. In true cartoon fashion, they were also a rock group.

Keye Luke, who portrayed Number One son in the 1940’s Charlie Chan movies, performed the voice of Charlie. All of the Clan’s original voiceovers, other than Henry and Alan, were recast with actors with less pronounced accents. Interestingly enough, one of those replacement voiceovers was provided by future Oscar winner, Jodie Foster.

The show continued to air for a second season, consisting of repeats that aired on Sundays.
