Release History:

9/6/69 - 9/5/70 CBS
With twenty-seven years of comic book success under his belt, the perpetual teenager Archie Andrews would finally get a shot at Saturday Morning television – not once or twice, but nine times over a twenty year period. The Archie Comedy Hour was the second incarnation, a cartoon that mimicked the comedic sketches of popular series, Laugh-In, with a few adventures and pop music thrown into the mix.

Airing during the 1969-1970 season, The Archie Comedy Hour got its title due to the fact that the previous year had been popular enough to expand it from its original half-hour format. Along with the typical comic vignettes, the show featured regular appearances by bubble gum sensations, The Archies, who were enjoying their first nationwide hit, titled “Sugar Sugar.” It would also be the season that introduced television viewers to Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. Sabrina wouldn’t stick around for very long, however, and by the next season, she was sporting her own series, which enjoyed some longevity of its own, lasting 8 years.
