Release History:

1972 - 1975 syndicated
New Zoo Revue was a very popular children's program aimed at a young audience in the 1970s. Through song, dance and games, the show taught the basic principles of getting along with others, respecting the community and oneself and doing the right thing.

Real-life couple Doug and Emmy Jo hosted each show, joined by an array of actors and costumed performers. The most popular puppet people were Freddie the Frog, a fun loving  but simple soul; Henrietta Hippo, a shy Southern belle in a tutu; and Charlie the Owl, a serious scholar whose tree dwelling had its own elevator. Other than the two hosts, there were other live actors playing roles, like Mr. Dingle, the friendly postman and Mrs. Goodbody, the nosy neighbor.

The series had many unforgettable musical numbers, including the songs "10 Note Happy Song" and "Happy Being Me." It was a regular staple on syndicated TV from 1972 to 1975 and reruns were frequent after its cancellation. It may look a little dated now but the lessons Doug and Emmy Jo taught are still relevant today.
