"Just a couple-a' hard-drivin' roughnecks, down Hazzard County way…"

Our favorite ‘Good Ol’ Boys’ from The Dukes of Hazzard found a home on Saturday mornings with the cartoon series, The Dukes.  Not about to let go of a chance to capitalize on the good fortunes The Dukes of Hazzard had brought them, CBS debuted The Dukes in 1983.  Since Bo and Luke Duke were fightin’ and feudin’ with the head honchos over a little salary matter, their ‘replacement’ players, Vance and Coy were the earliest stars of the show.

The Duke cousins raced around the world against Boss Hogg and his right-hand man Roscoe, to keep the Duke Farm for which they battled over week-in and week-out on the regular series.  The Duke boys saved up their winnings to help pay off the heavy-duty mortgage on the farm, but at least they had fun while doing it.  Uncle Jesse stayed back on the farm and everyone was kept up to date thanks to the magic of postcards.

One of the best, and perhaps most authentic aspects of The Dukes was that each character’s voice was recorded by the regular cast members of The Dukes of Hazzard.  Boss Hogg was Boss Hogg.  Daisy Duke was really Daisy Duke.  And when Bo and Luke Duke settled their contracts, they were there in time to lend their voices to the second season of The Dukes as well.

Racin’ and chasin’ everywhere they went, the Duke boys kept audiences tuned in on Saturdays until the end of their second season.  Though we can be sure that Boss Hogg is still scheming on ways to sabotage the boys, we can be just as sure that the General Lee will always come through as the winner.

“Whooo-ooooey, we’re gonna have some fun!”
