Following the success of prime-time variety series, The Hudson Brothers Show, and the subsequent wacky Saturday morning offering, The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Hour, came Bonkers, another prime time attempt for the lovable trio.

Containing everything one would expect from a 70s variety show, Bonkers was the typical mix of guest stars, sketch comedy and musical numbers. Brothers Bill, Brett, and Mark were also accompanied by comedian performer Bob Monkhouse, and Miss Bonkers, the beautiful lady with a man’s voice. Rounding off the festivities were the lovely “Bonkettes” a group of chorus line dancers.

Unfortunately, even the Bonkettes couldn’t save Bonkers from an early retirement. The show didn’t quite make it through a full season in 1979, although a total of 24 episodes were still produced and found a little extra shelf-life in syndication. Sadly, it would be the last series that featured the lovable Hudson Brothers.
