"Overture!
Curtain, Lights!
This is it
The night of nights!
No more rehearsing, and nursing our part-
We know every part by heart!

Overture!
Curtain, Lights!
This is it
We'll hit the heights!
And oh, what heights we'll hit
On with the show, this is it!"

And with this little vaudevillian ditty, a half-hour of sheer fun kicked off every Saturday morning. All the Warner Bros. favorites were there – Bugs, Elmer, Porky, Daffy, Wile E. and their many cohorts – taking turns in one cartoon misadventure after another. The Bugs Bunny Show, in its many incarnations, meant that the weekend had arrived – to millions of kids over a 40-year broadcast run.

Comprised of a number of popular cartoon shorts that had been produced throughout the 40s and 50s, The Bugs Bunny Show featured the prolific voice talent of Mel Blanc, as well as other vocal mainstays such as Daws Butler, June Foray and Stan Freeburg. Directing these many classic animated films were the legendary Friz Freleng, Chuck Jones, Robert McKimson and Bob Clampett.

The lengthy run of The Bugs Bunny Show, which would later be expanded into The Bugs Bunny Road Hour, spent time on CBS and ABC, and later, in years of syndication. Years later, Nickelodeon would choose to run The Bugs Bunny Show in prime time, proving that this cast of beloved characters enjoys timeless appeal – especially to all those former kids that fondly recall starting each weekend with a healthy dose of Bugs Bunny.
