The Amazing 3 was a Japanese import that came to American TV after the success of Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion (all brought over by the same company). It featured Ronnie, Bonnie, and Zero, a horse, rabbit and duck, respectively. While looking like normal farm animals, the three were actually extra-terrestrials sent by the Galactic Congress to determine whether or not Earth was a danger to the rest of the galaxy. If they judged that it was, the planet would be destroyed. The trio are discovered by Kenny Carter, a little boy, and he convinces them that it’s a better idea to help solve the problems of the world rather than destroy it for being dangerous.

Some viewers were distressed by the inordinate amount of violence in this cartoon. It was typical for this type of Japanese show, but American audiences weren’t prepared for such violence by sweet farm animals.
