Release History:

9/12/70 - 9/4/71 CBS
The gang from Riverdale High were back for third season, in Archie’s Funhouse, the third of nine Saturday morning television shows that Archie would enjoy over a twenty year period.

After switching to an hour-long format the previous year, the show was back to its original length of 30 minutes, due in part to the fact that a character from the previous season, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, had flown the coop and landed her own series. That didn’t stop the gang from engaging in their weekly sketch-oriented antics, although this time the show featured a live-action audience, who sat within a theater and watched the weekly escapades unravel on the big screen. The comedy sketches, dubbed “blackouts” were always popular and would receive more attention this season as the musical group, The Archies, would enjoy diminished participation in this latest incarnation. The musical portions of this animated variety series were now centered around Archie’s Jukebox, one of the more popular attractions within the Funhouse.

Interestingly enough, many fans of the various animated series found this particular format to be their favorite. Still, it would only last for one short-year, as in the next season, the show title would be changed again, to Everything’s Archie. By any name, however, it was still a good dose of clean fun, sure to brighten up any Saturday morning.
