Release History:

9/8/90 - 8/13/91 ABC
By the early 90s, abrasive comedienne and “domestic goddess” Roseanne Barr had hit the sitcom jackpot in the enormously successful ABC television series, Roseanne, as a blue-collar wife and mother of two. And like so many sitcom stars before her, someone decided that she might just make a good Saturday morning cartoon character. Featuring her as a youngster, Little Rosie, made it’s debut.

A younger, less-abrasive Rosie lived with her parents, brother and sister Tess and Tator, and her nanny. She spent much of her time with her friends Buddy, Matthew, and Jeffrey as she faced the various trials and tribulations of a typical pre-teen girl. Gone was the nasally whine, replaced with a much younger and pleasing voice (provided by voice actress, Kathleen Laskey.)

Unfortunately, the little version of Rosie proved far less appealing than the grown-up version and the show was cancelled after 13 episodes. ABC would try renaming the series The Rosey and Buddy Show in 1992, hoping that audiences might not notice. They did, the ratings didn’t improve and little Rosie disappeared while her adult persona would continue to make viewers laugh for another five years in prime-time.
