The Patty Duke Show concerned two young ladies, cousins to be exact, who were identical like peas in a pod. The fun-loving, precocious Patty got a surprise when her cosmopolitan cousin Cathy came to stay with her but the two look-alikes soon turned the situation to their advantage. The hit iconic show of the 60s featured the young and talented Patty Duke in both lead roles.

Patty Lane was an average American girl who loved rock n' roll, bubble gum and boys. She lived in Brooklyn Heights with her family: dad Martin was a newspaperman, mom Natalie took care of their home and little brother Ross usually got underfoot. When Patty's cousin, Cathy, arrived from Scotland, the girls realized that although they looked identical, their personalities were very different. Suave, sophisticated Cathy looked down on Patty's 'juvenile' attitude and Patty found Cathy a frightful bore. The two cousins warmed to each other before long and became fast friends and collaborators in various schemes that involved identity swapping. Family and friends were often fooled by the two girls, a nerve-wracking situation for Patty's boyfriend, Richard.

Patty Duke was already an accomplished stage and screen actress with an Academy Award to her name for portraying the blind and deaf Helen Keller in 1962's The Miracle Worker. She carried the TV show which ran for three seasons on ABC and featured major stars of the day, like Frankie Avalon, Sammy Davis Jr. and Bobby Vinton. The network cancelled the series while it was still popular but reruns and cable have kept Patty and Cathy in the spotlight. What a crazy pair!
