Sin City provided the backdrop for Blanski’s Beauties, a sitcom about the lives of a group of lovely Las Vegas showgirls and their caretaker, Nancy Blanski, who lived with the girls in an apartment complex and helped them prepare for their shows at the Oasis Hotel. Sharing in the weekly escapades were Nancy’s boyfriend, Emilio, and her two nephews, a choreographer named Joey and his pint-sized brother, 12-year-old Anthony, whose hormones were ignited by the beautiful women that surrounded him. A towering Great Dane named Blackjack also lived in the dwelling.

Blansky’s Beauties was created by Garry Marshall and one of the many spin-offs of his hugely successful sitcom, Happy Days. Nancy Blansky (played by Nancy Walker) made an appearance on the series as a visiting cousin of Howard Cunningham. But that wasn’t the only connection to Happy Days, not by a longshot. Eddie Mekka, who played nephew Joey would later emerge on Laverne and Shirley as Carmine, the dance instructor. And Scott Baio who played little Anthony would eventually become Chachi on Happy Days. And if that weren’t enough, the coffee shop at the Oasis Hotel was run by none other than Pat Morita, who had previously run Arnold’s Drive-In during the first few years of the series.

Blansky’s Beauties only lasted a mere four months on prime time in 1977, but had it never existed, consider the consequences. Joanie might never have met Chachi and the course of sitcom history would have been forever altered, a catastrophe so narrowly avoided.
