MTV was dominating television sets around the country (or at least wherever cable television was accessible back then!) and TV execs wanted to capitalize on the new trend. Dreams followed the story of a Philadelphia rock band that, coincidentally we’re sure, was called Dreams. Dreams, the band, consisted of Manelli on guitar, bassist Phil Taylor, Martha Spino on vocals, Moe Weiner on the keys, Angie on drums, and the recently added Lisa Copely, also on vocals. Each of them kept day jobs, so that they could live out their rock and roll dreams each night playing at Club Frank. The joint was run by Frank Franconi, who happened to be Gino’s uncle, and his wife Louise.
Unfortunately for this group of aspiring musicians, their Dreams only lasted a month before it got canned in October of the same year. Though the show lasted such a short time, they found moderate success from a soundtrack LP featuring the band, and Stamos got a nomination the following year at the Young Artist Awards for ‘Best Young Actor in a Television Comedy Series’ and continued living out his Hollywood dream.
