Release History:

9/16/89 - 12/17/89 ABC
This half-hour sitcom focused on Darryl (Darryl Sivad), a jingle writer who decided to drop of the ad world to teach elementary school. His wife Vicki (Penny Johnson), a medical student, acted supportive to this change but not Phil (Bill Cobbs), Vicki's father. Darryl got many opportunities to hear his father-in-law's opinion of his career choices because Phil happened to own the brownstone that Darryl and Vicki lived in. The rent was free, but the criticisms came fast and furious.

However, Darryl enjoyed his job teaching the colorful and intelligent children at P.S. 391, an inner-city school. His students included Trent Cameron as Sam and Daphne Lyn Jones as Lisa. Claude Brooks also co-starred as Anthony, Darryl's brother. This NBC was short-lived (it ran for just under three months) but is notable for featuring a predominantly African-American cast and trying to present a positive portrayal of inner-city life. Darryl Sivad would go on to star in another sitcom, The Naked Truth.
