Blossom Russo was a fun-loving teenaged girl just trying to make sense of the world around her in the popular long-running NBC series, Blossom, starring Mayim Bialik.

When her mother leaves the family to pursue a career, Blossom was forced to adjust to world where she was the only female in a household of males. Besides her father, a professional musician, Blossom shared the home with her two brothers – Nick, a recovering alcoholic and Joey, a dim-witted jock whose vocabulary seemed to consist of the word “whoa.” The only female Blossom regularly interacted with was her best friend, Six, a motor-mouthed teenager who often got the two in trouble.

Lasting for five seasons, Blossom, which debuted in 1991, was produced by familiar television face Bill Bixby (Courtship of Eddie’s Father, The Incredible Hulk) until his death from cancer in 1993. The theme song from the show was “My Opinionation” performed by New Orleans pianist, Dr. John.

Memorable to many fans of the show was the phrase “Tonight, on a very special Blossom” which was used for just about every episode where the teenager coped with a serious crisis.
