Release History:

11/5/93 - 1/19/94 ABC
To the younger generation, George Foreman is known as the man with the grill but the old timers will tell you that he was also one of the best heavyweight boxers of all time. Both labels are true; a great boxer and a great businessman, as it turned out.

After retiring from boxing, Foreman remained in the spotlight by endorsing a variety of businesses, like McDonalds, Meineke, Nike and Kentucky Fried Chicken. In the 90s, it seemed that every other TV commercial featured Foreman extolling the virtues of grills, nachos and mufflers. Since George had so much screen time, why not give the man his own sitcom? And lo, so it was.

The series was titled George. George played George who georged a george of georged georges. Sorry, got stuck in a loop back there. Ahem. Mr. Foreman played George, a retired boxer living with his wife, Maggie and their two children, Bubba and Vee. Maggie worked as a guidance counselor at the local middle school so George decided to try his hand at molding America’s youth. Hilarity ensued as the smart-alecky kids squared off against their hulking new mentor.

The show was not as successful as George’s other business ventures. Only nine episodes aired on ABC before the network pulled the plug. Luckily, George’s infomercials are still going strong.
