Cameron starred as Kirk Hartman, an aspiring illustrator who moves to Manhattan’s Greenwich Village with the hopes of furthering his career. Landing a less prestigious job as a sign painter isn’t his only problem - he is also saddled with raising three siblings that have been dropped off by his Aunt including brothers Corey and Russell and a sister named Phoebe. His life becomes a balancing act between getting his career off the ground and acting as surrogate father to the kids. With what little time he has to spare, his attention is drawn to the beautiful Dr. Elizabeth Waters ( played by Cameron’s real-life wife, Chelsea Noble) who lives in the same apartment building. His friend Eddie does his best to nudge the blossoming relationship along but usually does more damage than good.
Unfortunately, Cameron’s popularity wasn’t quite enough to propel the series, which would be cancelled after little more than one season. He would return to television in 2000 to reunite with the rest of the Seaver Family in the Growing Pains reunion before spending his time exclusively in Christian-themed productions such as the Left Behind series. He spends most of his time these days training future evangelists through his ministry. And that’s a career path that Mike Seaver could have never imagined in his wildest dreams.
