“These are the creatures we fear, others we love and respect - the ferocious, the funny, and the fantastic. Come along and join us, and Those Amazing Animals!”

With television shows like That’s Incredible being rewarding with sizable ratings, thanks to their never-ending array of jaw-dropping displays of human endeavors, it was no surprise when ABC decided that maybe the animal kingdom had some of its own awe-inspiring stories to share with television viewers. Long before Steve Irwin would ever wrestle a crocodile or buddy up with a poisonous snake, and long after Marlon Perkins took viewers into the depths of Africa, there was Those Amazing Animals – a somewhat lighthearted peek into the wonders of the animal kingdom.

Hosted by a trio of animal lovers that included Burgess Meredith, Jim Stafford and Pricilla Presley, Those Amazing Animals put the spotlight on all sorts of interesting critters, from radar-equipped bats to the crime-fighting abilities of police dogs. From the exotic and ferocious Komodo Dragon to the lovable dam-building Beaver. Both educational and entertaining, the series was a dream come true for anyone with an affinity towards the countless other species we share the planet with. And besides the filmed segments, there was also a  Noah's Ark-sized collection of creatures roaming around the set to be petted by the hosts and ogled by the studio audience.

Unfortunately, the initial popularity of both the human and animal based primetime series didn’t last long and Those Amazing Animals quickly found itself on the extinct list. Luckily, animal lovers today have an entire channel, Animal Planet, devoted to the types of stories that were often shared on this short-lived series.
