She was a little bit country and he was a little bit rock and roll, and together they hosted one of the most popular variety shows on TV. Donny and Marie Osmond were part of the musical Osmond family, and along with the weekly music, dance, and comedy skits, the Osmond Brothers often showed up as special guests on their siblings’ show.

In itas second season, production was moved to a new $2.5 million production studio in their hometown of Orem, Utah. Designer Bob Mackie was pegged to create a new line of outfits for Marie after his success fitting Cher on The Sonny and Cher Show. In season four, the show was renamed The Osmond Family Hour, and featured regular appearances by the whole Osmond family.

This fourth season was the last for the show, but it retained it’s sweet natured spirit to the end. Always charming, not to mention talented, Donny and Marie entertained the country with colorful skits and dazzling musical numbers each week. Viewers couldn’t help but be spellbound.
