It sounds like some strange programming snafu, but a network executive at ABC actually thought that a series that combined The Brady Bunch and Alf would be a successful show. Needless to say, it wasn’t. It ran for only two episodes on Friday nights, and was then moved to the Saturday morning schedule (apparently they thought kids had less taste than adults).
In the premise, Doug Brody is abducted by aliens and falls in love with an extraterrestrial named Cookie. The two of them return to earth to raise Doug’s kids Heather and Adam. But Cookie, naturally, already had three kids – Spit, Snizzy and Bobut. Do the math, and you’ve got the Brody bunch.
Aliens in the Family never shied away from it’s obvious inspiration – one episode was called "A Very Brody Tweeznax". The baby Bobut also happened to be the would-be emperor of the universe, and his schemes were always foiled by his nanny Sally and her delicious chocolate pudding.
However, none of this seemed to work. After only eight episodes on Saturday mornings, the show the completely cancelled.
