Sea-Monkeys were often a source of disappointment. Somehow, they never looked like what they were supposed to look like in the advertisement. But CBS decided to make them look just like we expected in The Amazing Live Sea-Monkeys. This show featured Howie Mandel as a zany scientist who enlarged three Sea-Monkey brothers – Aquarius, Bill, and Dave – to human size.
The Monkeys caused Mandel plenty of aggravation as he tried to teach them how to adapt to living on dry land. Expensive special effects and makeup were used to turn human actors into the bubble-nosed and horn-headed Sea-Monkeys.
The show didn’t fare well and was cancelled early after one season of only eleven episodes. It looked like Sea-Monkeys were a source of disappointment for CBS as well.
