Where's Huddles?

The short run Hanna-Barbera series ran for 9 episodes as a Summer replacement show on CBS in 1971 and then rerun again in 1972. The show had a "Flintstones" feel to it with the Hanna-Barbera animation style and sound effects, the domestic comedy with Ed and Bubba's life in suburbia on a meager football player salary, and the voices of Mel Blanc as bumbling football player Bubba McCoy, Jean Vanderpyl as Marge, Ed Huddles' wife, and Alan Reed as Mad Dog the coach. Ed Huddles resembled Walter Matthau. Paul Lynde added some laughs with his unique voice delivery as fussy football-hating neighbor Claude. His reference to the players as "savages" was reused as Mildew Wolf's catchphrase in the "Laff-a-Lympics" series. Real-life NFL tv announcer Dick Enberg played the voice of the announcer of the football games Huddles and McCoy played in.
